It is estimated that 1 million elderly people in the UK are eligible for a free NHS sight test but do not receive one. As a result they may be living unnecessarily with poor quality vision which could be improved with an up to date spectacle prescription. They may also be increasing the risk of developing eye disease and other related ocular problems.
Home-Visit Opticians offer a specialised eye care service that provides a thorough eye test in the comfort of your own home. We are an ideal solution for those members of the public, in particular the elderly, who are unable to attend high street opticians due to various factors such as distance, mobility or lack of support. Our qualified opticians will visit you whether you are at home, in a nursing/residential home, hospital or day care centre and our sight tests are absolutely free for the elderly and for those who meet the NHS eligibility criteria.
Our Corporate Service
Home-Visit Opticians caters for corporate firms, trade and industry businesses who would like their employees to have an eye test.
If your employees work with a visual display unit (VDU), then as an employer the responsibility lies with you to provide: a full examination for those employees who work with Visual Display Unts (VDUs), a regular eye check thereafter and basic VDU spectacles (in line with EC legislation and the Health and Safety - Display Screen Equipment Regulations 1992). Similarly, if your staff work in an industry where they are exposed to hazardous materials, then the responsibility lies with the employer to ensure that they have adequate protective clothing - including protective eye wear such as safety glasses. It is also important that your employees meet the visual requirements that are set out for their particular job so that they may carry out their role safely and efficiently. As our eyes can deteriorate over time, it is important that your staff have regular eye tests to ensure that they maintain these visual standards.
Home-Visit Opticians will visit your premises and conduct these sight tests using the latest portable equipment. We will assess the visual fitness of your staff required for their particular job. Examples of the tests we do include: fitness to use visual display units, colour vision tests, near vision tests and stereoscopic vision assessment. Advice will be given regarding your work station and environment to optimize visual comfort, and at the end of the test each employee will be issued with a written report/spectacle prescription.
