We are committed to providing all of our customers with the best possible home service, our guiding principles are detailed below:

  • Our patients will receive a sight test in accordance with NHS regulations and their individual needs. We comply with all FHSA guidelines and standards
  • Our duty of care and patient confidentiality is observed at all times
  • Where the environment or medical limitations of the patient make it impossible to include the full range of procedures, this will be explained to the patient and recorded
  • NHS sight tests will be offered to those at home who cannot access High Street services
  • NHS eligibility for a free domicilary eye test or glasses will be assessed and offered in accordance with the terms of service set out in the Opticians Act and noted on the record card
  • We respect the right of each patient to make their individual choice of provider for services and equipment
  • Where the patient opts to be cared for by another provider, then the present provider has an obligation to ensure that relevant patient information is made available to the new provider with the consent of the patient or the patient's carer
  • Spectacles dispensed by us will be fitted individually to patients, any follow-up care required or requested will be provided efficiently and professionally
  • Each patient will be treated as an individual throughout their care, communication will primarily be with them. Carers and relatives will be involved where appropriate
  • Patients will expect to receive a high standard of service and care and we apply an equal and non-discrimination policy for all of our patients
  • Our opticians will be easily identifiable from their badge, which includes their name and qualifications
  • The provider takes responsibility to ensure that the venue complies with the regulations and that the address is the normal place of residence of the patient
  • The provider acknowledges that when supplying domicilary services, that they are acting in a privileged position of trust. All providers will monitor and support any clinical staff with regular clinical governance reviews
  • Providers commit themselves to re-visiting each patient for a further eye examination at the interval recommended during the sight test (subject to patient/carers agreement)
  • All providers agree not to supply concessionary optical services including sight testing services or optometric products to the owners and staff of care homes
  • After the examination, the patient (or carer) will have the results of the test explained to them, as well as being provided with a spectacle prescription/statement. Any questions will be answered, relevant advice given and the date of the next sight test will be provided and the necessary referrals (GPs or the hospital eye service) completed
